Kardoesie Padstal
A farm stall, restaurant and boutique at the top of the Piekenierskloof Pass on the N7, trading since 1997, with a view over the Renosterhoek valley. The Daily, where you sit down to eat, is inside. Kardoesie's own menu lists all-day breakfasts, light meals, coffee and cake, with a fire inside in winter and tables outside in summer. Rooms, self-catering and a caravan park are on the same property.

Three restaurants in the valley sit inside a place to stay, so they are listed under places to stay rather than here. Citrusdal Country Lodge has an à la carte restaurant and a bar on Voortrekker Street, which makes it the one sit-down restaurant we can confirm in the town centre itself. The Baths has MacGregors’ Restaurant on the property, though the resort takes no day visitors, so it is for guests. Modderfontein — The Old Village runs a restaurant and pub in its old trading store. Several farms also serve something with a tasting: tastings and farm tours are on the things-to-do page.

We publish an establishment's hours only where the establishment itself publishes them. Today that is De Tol, whose times come from the Carmién tea farm's own website and appear on its page. For everywhere else no reliable public source records them, and hours are both the single most useful thing a visitor wants and the single field the directories get wrong. Rather than print a time that sends you to a locked door, we would rather tell you to ring first — particularly on Sundays, on public holidays, and outside the busy season.

Is anywhere in Citrusdal open on a Sunday?
Two places publish Sunday hours themselves. De Tol Farm Deli & Restaurant, on the Carmién tea farm, opens 08:00 to 15:00. Kardoesie padstal, at the top of the Piekenierskloof Pass on the N7, opens 12:00 to 17:00. Everywhere else in Citrusdal either does not publish hours at all or publishes them only through third-party directories we have not been able to confirm, so Sunday trading elsewhere is a phone call, not a plan.
Where can you get coffee in Citrusdal?
Oppi Hoek Coffee Shop is at 19 Loop Street in the town itself. De Tol Farm Deli, on the Carmién rooibos and tea farm just south of town off the N7, serves coffee and tea alongside a farm deli and is open 08:00 to 17:00 Monday to Saturday. d’ Oewer Cafe at 43 Oewer Street serves breakfast and lunch with garden seating. On the N7 at the top of the Piekenierskloof Pass, Kardoesie’s own menu lists coffee and a choice of cakes, served at The Daily inside.
Where can you get breakfast in Citrusdal?
d’ Oewer Cafe, at the Aan d’ Oewer bed and breakfast on Oewer Street, serves both à la carte and continental breakfasts to visitors as well as to its own guests, with a daily lunch special later in the day. De Tol Farm Deli opens at 08:00 Monday to Saturday, and so does Kardoesie on the N7, whose own menu lists all-day breakfasts, eaten at The Daily inside. Neither d’ Oewer’s opening time nor its closing time is confirmed, so ring ahead if you are driving in for it.
What is a padstal?
A padstal is a South African roadside farm stall selling local produce, preserves, dried fruit, biltong and home baking. Kardoesie on the N7 has traded as one since 1997 and is the usual stop on the drive between Cape Town and Citrusdal.

Does Citrusdal have a bakery, a butchery or takeaways?
Almost certainly, and we cannot yet name them. The public directories that cover Citrusdal list barely any eating-out at all, and a working town of roughly 7 200 people plainly has more than five places to eat.
